Moving YOU from Mired to Inspired

I sit at my desk, watching the kids playing soccer in the park across the street. I can hear their parents cheering or yelling instructions. I remember when my kids were young and I was that soccer mom.  A few weeks ago, there was no soccer, but the park is never quiet.  We have kick-ballers, cricket players, flag football….the sports change, the weather changes, but it is all familiar.

That’s much of what is happening at Janet Levine Consulting.  After 10 years pretty much on my own, I am thrilled to have a partner!  Courtney Rheuban has joined me–read about her here--bringing her deep knowledge of volunteering, social media, and planning to enhance what we do

What we do, of course, is work with you to increase your ability to fundraise–though training, coaching, and consulting.  Right now, we’re working on a number of end of the year campaigns–it’s not too late if your plan is not yet where you want it to be. Call or email and let’s set up a time to talk.

Fundraising, of course, is at the core of everything we do–from strategic planning to campaign counsel to helping you to build a stronger development program, whether by building on what you already do or helping to kick-start a whole new plan. Fundraising is still the engine, as are developing plans that are specific to your organization, taking into account your resources, culture, needs.

Perhaps best of all is the fuller perspective we bring.  One of my fears as I headed into a decade of consulting was becoming that “one-trick” pony.  When I started this work, I committed myself to NOT being the consultant who walks in with “THE BOOK” and tells you what you need and how you will do it before learning who you are and what you believe you need.

Now, regardless of which one is interacting regularly with the client, we get to brainstorm ideas, look at things through different lenses, come up with better solutions (or at least create better questions).

Beyond what we do, there is how we do it.  And that is where customization is so critical.

About 30% of our work is training—tailored for a specific organization as well as public workshops that are offered through a variety of venues—as well as board and staff retreats. These retreats range from a focus on strategic planning, to roles and responsibilities of board members, to every aspect of fundraising you can think of.  Often, we are coving a combination of these things.

Another 15% is one-on-one coaching, where we work with Executive Directors or development staff (and occasionally a board member), helping to get better at what it takes to raise larger gifts.

The bulk of our work is longer term consulting—often combined with training and coaching. Here we are mainly working with nonprofits to increase their fundraising by helping to develop a strategic fundraising plan, create a specific fundraising effort such as an individual fundraising plan or starting a planned giving program.

Our tag line says that help take nonprofits from mired to inspired.  And that, really, is what we do.  We energize, organize, and get you working on all cylinders.

We’d love to help you and your organization become (more) inspired.
